We had great fun at our very first Sport's Day. We learned lots of new races and cheered everyone on. It was lovely to see so much family support on the day too cheering us on from the sidelines! We had Active Week in school, where we got to try lots of new activities. We had a Spanish dance class, Yoga, Taekwondo, Basketball and Crazy golf. We finished off Active Week by taking part in our Sponsored walk. We also had our class merge, where we welcomed new members of junior infants into our class family as we get ready for beginning Senior Infants together in September. We had a Teddy Bear Picnic to celebrate. We also had Wellbeing Day, where we spent the day enjoying activities of yoga, colouring, musical instruments, and chalk art outside in our yard to brighten it up for the Summer. It has been a very busy, very fun month and the perfect way to complete our first year of school together in Junior Infants. Wishing everyone a fantastic Summer break!

Our School tour

We had a fantastic day on Friday with our school trip to Red Mountain farm. Although it was a little bit more rainy than we anticipated, we did not let it dampen our spirits. We had a great time on tractor rides, playing games together and playing in the playground. We got to meet lots of furry friends on the farm, including Poppy the very friendly dog, and even got to feed them some carrots and grass. We had the best day ever together.

We spent the month watering our sunflower seeds and watching them grow nice and tall. We also got creative making some sunshine decorations and artwork to brighten up our classroom for the Summer. We learned all about magnetism in Science and explored how they work and enjoyed some picnics and outdoor P.E lessons to soak up all the lovely sunshine May brought us.

We celebrated World Earth Day by learning how to help take care of our Planet. We made fun earth hats to celebrate and even planted some sunflowers to plant in our gardens for the bees and butterflies. We also had a surprise science workshop where we did loads of experiments with all our friends in Junior Infants. We learned how to make slime, how electricity works and even carried out an experiment with Coca Cola and some mentos. We had great fun!

We took time to make some beautiful Mother's Day art. We also celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge. We learned how to do some Irish dancing with 'Shoe the Donkey', some poems and songs for our Green day show with 'Oisín agus Bó' and 'An Bogha Baistaí'. We had a Gaeilge treasure hunt and made some lovely Irish art to decorate our school for St Patrick's day. We dressed up all in green to celebrate and had a lovely ceilí together. We were even lucky enough to have some Irish musicians visit us and play some traditional music for us! We had a great time with lots of ceoil agus craic. To celebrate Easter, we made some easter bunnies and chicks to decorate our homes for the Easter Bunny, had an easter egg treasure hunt and even had a visit from the Easter Bunny too! We were such good girls and boys that we got some yummy chocolate eggs. We had a great day!

We spent time learning songs and practicing for our first school show. We sang 'Bualadh Bus', 'Nearly Christmas' and 'Jingle Bells.' It was so much fun putting on such a fantastic show for all of our adults to see! We had Pippin Peppermint come to visit for the month to make sure we were all being very kind before Santa's big visit on Christmas Eve.  We were also very busy making lots of lovely Christmas art to  decorate our school as we had a very special visitor all the way from the North Pole who kindly gifted us some Chocolates for being such kind boys and girls.

For Wellbeing Week. we practiced yoga or meditation each day, along with getting to try Basketball with Casey who is a parent from Room 10 and Stacey. We had lots of fun in Science with our Rainbow experiments to celebrate Science Week.  We learned all about diffusion with out 'Walking Rainbow' experiments and our 'Grow a Rainbow' experiment using yummy Skittles sweets.

We had Maths week and explored how to make patterns, and had fun forming the numbers 1-3! We also made some 'Shapenstein' monsters that we created using triangles, circles, squares and rectangles. We  We enjoyed painting some autumn landscapes and also had some cute pumpkin creations too! We celebrated Halloween and had lots of fun getting all dressed up for our Witches Walk together.
