We had a surprise visitor to room 2 on Friday! When we came back in from yard there was a big box waiting for us in the classroom. It had a sticker on it that said 'Deliver to Room 2, St.Pauls JNS, Dublin, Ireland. There was snow and foot prints around the box. We opened it to discover that our Elf had arrived from the North Pole! His name is Pippin and he wrote us a letter to tell us he would be keeping on eye on all of us in the run up to Christmas. He knew that all the boys and girls were excited to watch the Toy Show and he brought us some goodies to have while we watched. We can't wait to see what he gets up to over the coming weeks. We loved looking at everyones baby pictures and guessing who was who! The children had great fun talking about how much everyone had changed and grown.
This year we managed to celebrate Halloween a little differently, despite all the restrictions with covid19. The children enjoyed dressing up in their very cool Halloween costumes and we got to do a witch walk around Ayrfield. We got lots of beeps from all the cars and we had great fun. We did a scavenger hunt outside where we had to find some Halloween goodies! The whole school also participated in a Zoom concert! Each class tuned into Zoom and we got to hear every class sing a song or say a poem. We had a great day and remembered to practice social distancing along the way . Room 2 Enjoying their scavenger hunt!
The boys and girls were busy this week with the focus being on Maths. We did lots of fun activities based on number, matching and sorting. We had great fun today as it was dress up day. The children were dressed in super home made costumes all based around maths number. Well done to all parents involved, lots of effort was put in and the children loved it. Check out the fabulous maths outfits! We are thrilled to have GAA lessons from David & Chris from O'Tooles GAA club. This was our first GAA class. We remain socially distanced outside and enjoying the fresh air at the same time. We play lots of fun games & learn new skills.
Today we did our first bit of painting in room 2. The boys and girls had great fun making the character from their Irish programme, Bua na Cainte, Teidí. They were so good at using their paint brushes and we managed not to put it all over ourselves !!!
Mr.Sun has been one of our favourite songs to sing this week. The children have learned lots of new songs since they have started school and we are having great fun in the process.
Welcome to room 2! These are all the fabulous boys and girls in Junior infants who have settled into their first full week of school. They are all behaving so well and working so hard.
