May was super busy, between our First Holy Communion preparations with our prayers, songs and artwork we were very happy to get to visit the church and practice everything we needed to know. We also had an amazing Sports Day and thankfully the rain held off so we got to enjoy our races, have our Blitz in O'Toole's GAA Club and also have an outdoor disco the celebrate the occasion. We have also really enjoyed getting to visit the Senior School every Friday with our Paired Reading sessions with Mr. Crowe's 5th Class - the boys and girls have been showing us the library and the yards so far and we are looking forward to getting to explore more places as we prepare to start there in September. We also had our fundraiser for the school with a Sponsored Walk in May and we thank everybody for supporting us in the fundraiser!

This month we had a visit from the Dental Nurse who taught us so much, we got to see what a healthy teeth-brushing routine looks like with the giant model teeth and toothbrushes she brought for us. We also got a new toothbrush, word search and a toothbrushing chart. She made us feel so relaxed about the dentist and taking good care of our teeth - we really enjoyed the visit. We also celebrated our 'Skip Around Europe' Challenge this month and visited European cities such as Berlin, Rome, Athens and Helsinki to name just a few. We made great improvements in our skipping and have really been enjoying working on this skill. Finally, this month we had a visit from the Easter Bunny and he left us some delicious surprise Easter Eggs too! We had a great time in March! We had lots of things to celebrate; between Seachtain na Gaeilge, our Lá Glas, Pancake Tuesday and Mother's Day we were extra busy. We had lots of art, songs, poems and we had a ball doing it! We especially enjoyed our Pancake Station in Room 10 - there were lots of big smiles as a result. February was such a busy month, between our GAA lessons, Grandparents Day, Valentine's Day, Friendship Week with special collaborative art pieces with the Junior Infants in Room 15, our China Projects and a visit from Farmer Tom with all his amazing animals. We have had a ball this month, there were so many fun moments, laughter and smiles throughout the month. We all came back with lots of news after Christmas and New Year and we loved getting to catch up with all our friends in Room 10. We particularly enjoyed getting back into the routine of our Library time on Wednesdays along with starting back our GAA Lessons with Coach Aisling in the hall every Thursday. We were working a lot on the theme of Winter and it certainly did feel like winter with the weather this month. We had a great month in December between our Christmas art, Santa visit, PJ Day, Christmas concert and show day, a surprise hot chocolate and movie day along with our Christmas Carol Service in the hall - it was jam packed! We really enjoyed getting the festive spirit and run up to our Christmas break. We hope all our grown-ups enjoyed coming to our school concert and hearing our two songs; I think we will be singing about Hippopotamuses for a very long time!!! November saw Room 10 enjoying Wellbeing Week, a visit from Graffiti Classics for a special school performance which we thoroughly enjoyed, an anti-bullying workshop, and learning all about compliments, cups of kindness and all about the artist James Rizzi and his cityscape characters. This month we have been doing Athletics with Louise, GAA with Aisling and also preparing for some Spook-tacular events. We had our annual fundraiser 'The Witches Walk' where we wore costumes and walked around our local area. We collected lots of funds and lots of beeps too! We also performed our poem 'Mystic Magination Night in the hall for all our friends on this day too. We had great fun doing our costume parade in the halla. Thank you to our lovely Parents Association who arranged a lovely surprise for us all in the morning. We also prepared some Haunted Houses and had to create a 'Haunted House for Sale' and Ms. Gilligan was the buyer of our houses - she was pretty spooked by some of the added extras some of the houses had - skeleton maids, ghost butlers and 'batrooms'!!!! Happy Halloween!!!! SeptemberWe have settled back into school very well, we have changed classroom this year and are in Room 10 with Ms. Gilligan. We have been very lucky to have Louise from Athletics Ireland with us every Tuesday - we have spent each week focusing on a new Athletics Skill such as hurdles, relay, long jump, sprinting and javelin. We have had great fun learning about different athletes who race each of these disciplines and have been enjoying getting to practice the skills ourselves. We have been using our Wild Explorers reader to inspire us with making 'Paper People' while also doing self-portraits in art! We worked together to design our own bridges with items in the classroom! Teamwork makes the dreamwork! |
