World Book Day

Today, we recreated book covers and we really surprised by just how artistic we are. See our amazing book covers here. We also did a teacher swap with Ms O'Neill who brought her favourite book into us and read it to the class.

Pancake Tuesday

We enjoyed lots of Pancake Tuesday themes activities today in Room 2. We wrote out our very first shopping list on Monday so that Ms Gilligan knew what to buy for Pancake Tuesday. Little did we know, Ms Gilligan was really planning on surprising us with pancakes!

This month was really busy in Room 2 and we had lots of things to celebrate! This February we had Grandparents Day, Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day. We particularly enjoyed making our Valentine's Day Owls - we had so much fun! We especially loved the joke on its tummy saying "Guess whooooo loves you?".

We also enjoyed a midterm break to help us recharge our batteries before another busy month of March. The excitement in Room 2 for pancake Tuesday is off the charts!

We have finished the first part of out Jollyphonics Program and are working really hard on our Blending. You can see here we made our own 'Sound Street' where we had been making our words ending with 'ug' and 'at'.

We have also really enjoyed learning about penguins in SESE and managed to create some lovely art for our noticeboards outside our classroom.

Making Gingerbread

We were really surprised when Ms Gilligan brought in Gingerbread and everything we could need to decorate them with (even the gumdrop buttons!!!!) We designed and decorated them in the morning time and then got to watch the Helix Panto - it was a great day.

Visiting the Crib & Christmas Jumper Day

A big thank you to our wonderful caretaker Robert who set-up our lovely crib again this year. He also put up a really festive backdrop where we could safely visit and have a picture taken when we were in our Christmas jumpers!

Christmas Cheer!

We really enjoyed the lead up to Christmas there was so much festive cheer we could barely contain ourselves!!! We really did light up Room 2 between the very special arrival of our Elf which we named Elfie and the decorations and artwork around the classroom! We had a very important mission this month with our Aistear theme being Santa's  Workshop, our role-play area scenario was that Santa's most important toy-making machine had broken down and we had to fix it!! The boys and girls took it very seriously and judging by the wonderful Christmas they all had - the machine was definitely in full working order!

Spooky Fun in Room 2!

We really enjoyed celebrating our first Halloween in our new school! We had some spooky cauldron making classes, a dress-up day and our annual Witches Walk around our local area. We really enjoyed showing all our new friends just how creative and spooky our costumes were!

We can't believe it is already October! We have been learning lots about the number 2, the circle, reading our new words, and the Doctor. We began Aistear this month and our theme was The Doctor's Surgery, we had great fun at our role-play station where everybody had a chance to explore the different people we might see in the Doctor's Surgery.

We have had a super start to Junior Infants, we have been enjoying getting to know all our new friends in Room 2. In the month of September we have been learning all about the colours red and yellow, the number 1, Humpty Dumpty, An Sicin Beag Buí and about our families. We are also really lucky to have Chris from O'Toole's doing GAA classes with us every Friday. The giggles can be heard from miles away!
We have really enjoyed learning about Autumn, we are very luck to have a huge tree outside our window that has been changing colours and showing us all about Autumn leaves. We have enjoyed our Autumn art, we used crepe paper to create our own versions!
