On the 22nd of October, we had our dress up day in school and our Witches Walk. We were so well behaved on our walk and loads of people stopped to say hello or beeped their horns when we went past. It really cheered people up to see us out and about. Our teacher was very proud of us!

We are now in first class and settling in very well to our longer day. We have a new teacher, Ms Kenny although Ms Treanor still comes on visits sometimes to see us!
We have been enjoying the beautiful weather so far this September. We have PE outside twice a week and also GAA on Fridays with Chris. We are such a well behaved class on yard that our teacher had to take a few photos of us playing nicely in the sun to share here. We had the best day in school EVER!!! The sun was shining and we spent the entire day outside. In the morning we had races - potato and spoon, speed walking, hopping, jumping, running, skipping and so many more. After break we went back outside and played some games - GAA, orienteering, hurdles and relay races. Then we had a well deserved break. After big break we all received a medal. Then we got the best surprise ...... an ice cream van at school!!! Our 99's were delicious way to end a fantastic day! There was great excitement this week when the boys and girls used tangrams for the very first time. We enjoyed making shape pictures with the tangrams. Then teacher gave us the challenge of trying to make a square using all seven pieces. We will have to wait until another day to find a winner to the challenge. All the boys and girls concentrated so well during tangram time! We all enjoyed listening to the story of Cinderella. We made our very own books on Cinderella - we were the authors and illustrators of the story. We also listened to and danced to the music of Cinderella.
We also had a very fun drama lesson, when Cinderella's step mother came to visit and we asked her lots of questions!!! We wrote a letter to Santa to tell him all that we are thankful for this year and all the things that make us smile. We had so much fun on our last day before our well deserved Mid Term Break! It was a spooky start to the day with the children making such a fantastic effort with their costumes! There were scary warewolves, footballers, witches, wizards. robots and all sorts of wonderful outfits. We had a zoom call with Ms Mc Nulty and all the children in the school. We sang and danced our Halloween song. We went on a walk around the estate to show off our costumes. We got so make beeps and waves from people as they passed by. We had a party in our classroom and then went outside for a little dancing!! To all the boys and girls and their parents and guardians, well done on such great start to the school year. Enjoy your well deserved break. This week we focused our attention on Maths for our annual Maths Week event. Each morning we played lots of number and counting games. During the day, we found shapes in our classroom, numbers hidden around the classroom and played counted games on the Interactive Whiteboard. We have really enjoyed practicing the Story of 6 using 6 counters. We listened to number songs and poems also, with an added Halloween theme. The children were so excited all week for Thursday when they would finally get to show off their creative side in a Maths costume. The boys and girls along with the grown ups at home created some fantastic costumes. There were maths wizards, dominos, dice, number fairies to name but a few. This week, we were very busy learning all about the red and grey squirrels. We learned lots of new facts about them. We've learned a poem and made an autumn squirrel this week. |
