For science week, we carried out an experiment with vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. We put bicarbonate of soda and vinegar into a bottle and placed a balloon on top. The balloon inflated which showed us that when vinegar and bicarbonate of soda react they produce a gas. It was this gas which caused the balloon to inflate. As part of science week, we carried out an experiment to see if we could walk on air! We blew up 8 balloons and placed a table on top. We then got different children to stand on the table. We managed to get 6 children on the table without bursting any balloons! Our teacher even had a go! We had great fun! We did an experiment to highlight the importance of washing and sanitising our hands correctly! We got four slices of bread. One slice was touched with dirty hands. Another was touched with sanitised hands. The third was rubbed on a table and the fourth was left untouched. This slice was our control. Look at the pictures below to see our results!
We carried out an investigation to see whether or not plants require light to grow. We planted cress seeds in two pots. One pot was placed on the windowsill and the other was put into a press. Have a look at our photos below to see the results. :)
We had great fun during math's week! We had a maths themed dress-up, we learned all about symmetry and we even got to play lots of fun maths board games! If you have been doing some fun activities at home email me some pictures and I will post them here. That way the whole class can stay in touch from afar! Below is Ascanio's art. It turned out fabulous. What a lovely way to remember this very strange time in our lives! G has been keeping busy at home doing her school work each day and going on lots of nice walks with her parents. Have a read of her fantastic acrostic poems about summer! This week's art was to draw a picture of someone you consider to be a hero. Below is Gracie's hero, her aunt and Ascanio and Charlotte's heroes, their mums. What lovely drawings! Check out the cool binoculars that Ascanio made as part of his art work on Friday! Below is some fun things L and her sisters have been doing to keep busy at home. Last week, we asked our First Class to draw a picture of what they thought the Corona Virus looked like if they could see it. Below is what Charlotte and Ascanio think it looks like! Amazing artistic work guys! Please see the attached document for work which can be completed with your child at home over the week of the 30th March - 3rd April.
