We wrote a letter to Santa to tell him all that we are thankful for this year and all the things that make us smile.
We had so much fun on our last day before our well deserved Mid Term Break! It was a spooky start to the day with the children making such a fantastic effort with their costumes! There were scary warewolves, footballers, witches, wizards. robots and all sorts of wonderful outfits. We had a zoom call with Ms Mc Nulty and all the children in the school. We sang and danced our Halloween song. We went on a walk around the estate to show off our costumes. We got so make beeps and waves from people as they passed by. We had a party in our classroom and then went outside for a little dancing!! To all the boys and girls and their parents and guardians, well done on such great start to the school year. Enjoy your well deserved break. This week we focused our attention on Maths for our annual Maths Week event. Each morning we played lots of number and counting games. During the day, we found shapes in our classroom, numbers hidden around the classroom and played counted games on the Interactive Whiteboard. We have really enjoyed practicing the Story of 6 using 6 counters. We listened to number songs and poems also, with an added Halloween theme. The children were so excited all week for Thursday when they would finally get to show off their creative side in a Maths costume. The boys and girls along with the grown ups at home created some fantastic costumes. There were maths wizards, dominos, dice, number fairies to name but a few. This week, we were very busy learning all about the red and grey squirrels. We learned lots of new facts about them. We've learned a poem and made an autumn squirrel this week. We had great fun participating in our Maths trail recently. Firstly, we read the instructions in the classroom to make sure we understood each of the questions. Then, in pairs we went outside with our Maths Trail questionnaire. We estimated, counted, measured and rechecked each of the answers. Afterwards we went inside and discussed each of our answers. A huge well done to all the boys and girls for settling in so well. You really are great with all the changes that have been made to our classroom, school and yard. It's been a fun week, we've played with activities, caught up on each others news, listened to new stories, played new games as well as practising some things we learned for Junior Infants like counting and saying our sounds. Well done to all the boys and girls on a fantastic first day back! You all did AMAZING! We’re going to have a fantastic year in our new classroom!
our first day back flew by - we were busy playing, listening to each other’s news, sorting our new Senior Infants school books and even had time to play! A big thank you to all the parents and guardians for preparing the children so well for the changes that are around school. Well done to all the boys and girls along with their families for participating in Sports Week. I hope you all enjoyed the extra activities. E. had a great time doing the potato and spoon race with her family. E. was also very creative during the week. Have a look at what she made.
Hello boys and girls,
