June was the busiest month yet, between Wellbeing Day, Dogs Trust Visits, Sports Day, petting farm visits, and Cake Sales. Safe to say we were exhausted but full of excitement every day with so many events, visits and trips. We really enjoyed our final month of Junior Infants and have grown so much since September.
A big thank you to North Strand Fire Station for coming out visit our school this month. We were really grateful they spent some extra time with the Junior Infant classes showing them all the fun parts of their job. The boys and girls in Room 10 and 15 had been learning all about the Fire Station in Aistear and had a very good knowledge of the equipment, uniforms and the job of a Fire Fighter. We were beyond excited when we saw the Fire Truck with it's flashing lights and sirens on pulling into our school yard. The boys and girls loved getting to practice with the hoses, wearing the white Officer's helmet, and getting to put the sirens on when they answered a very special question from the Officer in charge correctly (What's the number you ring in an emergency?). All the Fire Fighters were very impressed that every child in Junior Infants got this question right and they even left us very cool certificates to say the boys and girls were part of Dublin Fire Brigade's Safety Team. Thank you again for giving up your time to inspire some future Dublin Fire Brigade recruits in the future!!! We really enjoyed our return to school in after our Easter break. It was great getting to see our friends again, we had a very active April and were learning all about the Emergency services in our Over the Moon program. We had a lovely Aistear theme of the Fire Station for April and Ms. Gilligan might have organised a very special visit for after the May Bank Holiday........ stay tuned Room 10! We had so much to do this month, between World Book Day, St. Patrick's Day and Easter art we had so much fun! Thank you to Room 8 who visited us on World Book Day and read our favourite books with us. We really enjoyed getting to draw our favourite book cover and show the class our art and talk about what we drew. Ms. Gilligan and Ms. McCabe loved getting to our favourite stories and characters come to life. We particularly enjoyed St. Patrick's Day in Room 10, we loved our Lá Glas, the special assembly where we performed our Irish songs and poems and our lovely visit from Sean Treacy CCÉ to honour Seachtain na Gaeilge. We made rainbows from our handprints and tried our veryyyy best not to go home with our uniforms covered in paint. We really try our best Grown-Ups we promise!!!! We also enjoyed a visit from the Easter Bunny who delivered Easter eggs, we completed our active schools Easter Extravaganza with great help from the Parent's Association who made it so much fun! We also had a great time learning about the theatre with our Over the Moon program this month. We really enjoyed our Aistear stations where we had our role-play area, mask making station, popcorn station and much more! We enjoyed getting back into the swing of things in January, it was very busy remembering all that we had learnt and saying a big hello to all our friends we had made. Once we had settled in again we had a jam-packed February, we celebrated pancake Tuesday, Valentine's Day and Grandparent's Day. We did lots of art, made yummy pancakes and invited our Grandparents into our classrooms with us after a lovely mass in the hall. A special well done to Fletcher who did a wonderful reading representing all the boys and girls in Room 10! We enjoyed getting back into the swing of things in January, it was very busy remembering all that we had learnt and saying a big hello to all our friends we had made. We had a really fun visit from the Gardaí who showed us all their equipment, and explained their uniforms and even let the boys and girls try on the different bits and pieces. What a busy month we had in December, between Santa visiting, Christmas concerts, Jinglebell Jogs, Carol Services and cinema visits. That along with all our songs, poems, art and usual learning - we were busy bees in Room 10. Below you can see some of the artwork, displays, visits and trips we went on. There was so much fun and excitement in the lead up to Santa's trip around the world on Christmas Eve. I have also attached a video of our Christmas Concert, the boys and girls did so well getting up on the stage and remembering all their words and actions. Ms Gilligan and Ms McCabe were very proud of all the Christmas cheer we spread far and near! This month we have really enjoyed getting to explore our school library. We have been looking at some of the books and with the help of Ms McCabe have been learning about how we scan our books in and out when we find one we would like to take. Here are some of the books we have taken this month. We had a very spooky dress up day in St. Paul's JNS before we finished up for our Halloween Midterm break. The effort the grown-ups in Room 10 made on all the boys and girls costumes were amazing! We had a wonderful sponsored Witches Walk around our local area and even had a Halloween concert with the school in the hall. We performed a Halloween song for the school and got to do a costume parade! October was a busy month in Room 10, we were learning all about the number 2, the signs of Autumn, Ar Scoil, and celebrating Halloween in our own special Junior Infant way! We really enjoyed Maths Week 2022, we had different activities, games and exploration of numbers during the week. Our shape this month was learning all about the circle, we created a very special display outside our classroom showing what we can create with circles. Some of the ideas we had were; caterpillars, flowers, the solar system, a rollercoaster. SeptemberWell done to the boys and girls on settling in so well into Junior Infants. We had lots of fun this month getting used to our new routines, making new friends and enjoying the songs, games and play involved in Junior Infants. We have been really lucky to Chris come in every Friday to do GAA with us. He shows us the best games and we have so much fun learning and practicing GAA skills in our time with him. You can see below that we are learning all about patterns in Maths, we have been exploring ways to make patterns of different colours, characteristics and sizes etc. We've really enjoyed using the hands-on materials we have in Room 10 to put together creative patterns.
