Lots of the activities can be done independently so there's not much pressure on parents'/guardians' time. The website has lots of activities to support health and well-being. Have a look at the family zone which has ideas for physical activity, nutrition and well-being.

APPS

There are some great educational apps available currently, particularly for iPad. I have chosen three paid ones to outline here.

The Jolly Phonics app is available as on iPad (€5.99) and is the complementary app for the way the children learn to read in school. Children progress from learning their letter sounds, to drawing the letters on - screen, to blending, to playing games that reinforce what they have learned. It is well worth the investment. It is available to download HERE.

Teach your Monster to Read is available as an iPad app (€4.49) and for free on computers. Once you sign up for a free account on their website, you can then create a personalised monster that learns letter sounds and words for various rewards. Suitable for infant classes and for older reluctant readers. A more detailed overview is HERE.

Another great app suitable for First and Second Class is Book Creator App. A review of this app is available HERE. It costs €4.49 and is great for children to create stories without the traditional pen and paper. Children can add pictures and sound effects to their writing and share the finished piece with family and friends. The App is available to download HERE
