Sports & Activities We are a school that strongly encourages physical activity, both in and out of the classroom. Teachers incorporate movement breaks for the children in the classroom throughout the school day.
At yard time the children from older classes can play football, or use the skipping ropes provided to burn off some energy. We have an active area of the yard and a quiet area for those who prefer a less hectic break.
Participation in sport and other physical activity outside of school is encouraged and we have many dancers, gymnasts, footballers, GAA players, and other athletes in training in a variety of individual and team sports.
Our athletes are always willing to tell their classmates and teachers about their activities outside the school and are always willing to demonstrate if required!
We also have some school based sports and activities. This includes GAA training with our local GAA development officer David. The progress in their skills is evident as they advance through the classes. The future of Dublin GAA is definitely safe!
The children have also completed structured yoga classes in the recent past.
We also have some whole school runs that take place roughly once a term. These include the Jingle Bell Jog that takes place just before Christmas, and involves two laps of the school grounds, which is the equivalent of a kilometre. It can be a long way for some little feet but is hugely enjoyable and the children love it.
We also have a Easter and Summer equivalent of the run and these events are co-ordinated by one of our athletic and enthusiastic members of staff, Ms O'Connell.
These are just some examples of the activities the children participate in - stay tuned for more!
