Happy Holidays!
Hi Boys and Girls,
I want to thank you for reading my blog over the last few months as we learned all about our well-being. It has been a difficult time for everyone but it has made me so happy to see all your faces and to hear about how you have been working on your well-being like I have.
Although this will be my last post before the summer, I want to make sure that everybody remembers to keep practising the five ways to well-being over the holidays. Remember how good it made us feel to connect, to be active, to give, to take notice and to keep learning? Why stop now!
Why not help those around you, inside and outside of your home? Why not keep active with some exercising, cycling, hiking, yoga, dancing and other enjoyable activities? Why not keep taking notice of nature, the beautiful birds singing and the animals in the parks that you see? Why not keep learning over the summer by reading, writing and playing games? And most importantly why not keep connecting with friends and family (at a distance) or online if they are far away! Give it a go because I know I will!
Happy summer holidays everybody! Stay safe and remember to keep washing those hands!
Ted

Week Five
June 17th - 24th
Hello Boys and Girls,
How has your week been so far? I hope you enjoyed GIVING last week. Thank you to those who sent in some wonderful pictures. I loved how much you all helped out your families and friends and some of you helped raise money for some charities too! Well done everybody! The photographs really put a smile on my face. I bet you felt great at the weekend after all that GIVING!
This was supposed to be the last week of discussing ways to improve our Well-being here on my blog but I have decided to extend it to next week too! So now you have lots of time to send in pictures to me. Can you tell me what the fifth way to well-being is? Here we go....................... it is to KEEP LEARNING! The school year is coming to an end. But we can KEEP LEARNING for the last 10 days of term. We can also KEEP LEARNING, keep giving, keep taking notice, keep connecting and keep being active during the summertime! It makes us feel happy and smile, why would we stop?!
On Monday, I went into the library and decided to pick out all the books that I have read in the past year! It took me quite a while! Then, I choose my favourite book and I read it again. I went into Ms O'Neill's classroom library and chose four new books to read over the next few days. I want to KEEP LEARNING and reading books is one way I can do that! Some other ways I can KEEP LEARNING is by writing letters/news, drawing and painting pictures, going on a nature trail and I might even do some virtual tours in museums and Zoos online! These are all things we can do in the home to KEEP LEARNING.
So why don't you join me for the last week! Can you KEEP LEARNING in your home? Can you choose your favourite book to read and send me in a picture of it? Maybe you could KEEP LEARNING outside the house in the fresh air too? You could take a virtual tour of the Dublin Zoo, or other Zoos around the world? You could write a letter to a friend or family member you miss and practice your writing! Let me know how you're getting on this week. Let me know how you feel when you KEEP LEARNING. I'm really looking forward to hearing about how you're getting on.

Hi Girls and Boys,
How are you all doing this week? Have you been giving to others? I am really enjoying helping those around me this week. Yesterday I knocked on Ms McNulty's door and asked did she need any help with anything. I completed a few jobs in school for her - photocopying and sorting some books in the Library. Earlier in the week I made Robert, Caroline and Ms McNulty a cup of tea as well! I am going to make them a cup of tea every day from now on as they are all working very hard in school. It has felt so nice helping my friends in school and giving this week.
This morning, I helped a friend out with their gardening and washing. Now that I love getting outside and taking notice, gardening is one of my new favourite things to do! I watered some plants in the garden and I offered to hang out the washing. My friend was so grateful. He has three young Teddies at home and it is a very busy household. It was so nice to offer him some help. He really appreciated it. When I came back to the school, I felt so happy. I never thought giving to others would be so rewarding.
I can't wait to see some of the pictures you send me! Well done to those who have already sent some in. And it was just incredible to see the boys who were raising money for charity. Well done! I also heard some amazing news about Ms Brown's son Josh who cycled 126 km in his garden. Josh raised an incredible amount of money for a really important charity. Well done Josh! What a way to give to others! We can help and give to those closest to us, but we can also give to others who may need some help outside our homes too.
Let's keep giving this week boys and girls. It really does make you feel good!
Take care,
Ted

Here's my friend Isobel from Junior Infants helping her sister with her block work. Isobel is also great at keeping Cooper the dog company. I know Isobel loves helping out in the garden too. She helps others so much, no wonder she's such a happy girl!
Adam from 2nd Class was bust matching all of these socks. He matched 50 pairs! It's great to help out!
I've heard that this friend from Junior Infants has been really busy helping his mum out at home.
Wow, I was so delighted today when I got these photos from this champ. I heard that he felt great when he did his charity run for Eric's Heroes. What a great way to GIVE to others!

These girls have been picking out toys to wrap for their little sister's birthday next week. It's great to give!
Check out this friend of mine from First Class who weas busy dusting all about the house. He even found time to walk 5 and a half K for Sports Week.
My friend from 2nd Class was busy helping Dad at home. I bet his arms were sore after all that hard work.

Hello Boys and Girls,
How was your weekend? I hope you enjoyed TAKING NOTICE last week. I saw lots of your wonderful pictures, I even recognised some of my teddy friends (Hi Mason). Thanks so much for sending them. I spotted lots of painted stones when I went on my walks and cycles. They really put a smile on my face.
For the past 3 weeks I've been doing things that make me feel happy. I've been KEEPING ACTIVE, CONNECTING with others and TAKING NOTICE. Today Robert, Caroline and Ms McNulty were busy working in school so I made a pot of tea for them. They really enjoyed it and I felt great because I did something for other people. I decided that this week I'm going to GIVE to others.
Why don't you join me? Could you help out at home? Maybe you could set the table or help out in the garden. Could you walk the dog or hang out the washing? Let me know how you're getting on this week. Let me know how you feel when you give to others. I'm really looking forward to hearing about how you're getting on.

Hi Girls and Boys,
How are you all doing this week? Are you Taking Notice of the wonderful things around you? What weather we are having! I am having a lovely week so far taking notice. Yesterday I went to the park and sat down and just watched the world pass me by. I switched off from technology and just enjoyed nature. I am so lucky to have the wonderful fields around the school but also a beautiful park in my 5k. I saw some lovely flowers, insects, lots of squirrels and guess what....the roses are starting to bloom in the rose garden in St Anne's park! When I came home from the park, I sat in my window sill and I took notice of what I had inside my doorstep! How lucky am I!
Today I did some Yoga. I like doing it in the morning when I wake up because it really starts off my day nicely. Do you practise the Cosmic yoga too? Do you enjoy it? After my yoga I took a few minutes to take notice of my breathing. It really made me feel relaxed and calm.
I can't wait to see some of the pictures you send me! This week especially, the weather is just so lovely. Enjoy the sun (remember your sun-cream), enjoy the fresh air, enjoy being outside in your garden, park or beach if it is in your 5k. Enjoy taking notice of the things that we may pass by too quickly at times! And don't forget to keep painting those wondering rocks and shells. I saw some beautiful ones outside a house near the school the other day and it made me so happy!
Take care,
Ted

Hello again Boys and Girls,
I hope that you all had a great Bank Holiday Weekend. I'm sure that many of you CONNECTED with your family and friends. Remember just because we can't be in the same room as someone doesn't mean we can't connect with them. Thank you for all of your wonderful photos and videos. It was great to see how you CONNECTED with family and friends during the week.
This week, after a busy weekend I'm trying to TAKE NOTICE. That means that I'll try really hard to focus on what I am doing and I'll try not to let my mind wander. When I'm out for a walk I'll listen to the birds; when I'm beside the sea I'll listen to and look at the crashing waves. This will help me to enjoy the small things. Today I sat outside the school for a while. I watched the birds sitting in the trees. I saw some children walking past and they said hello. I even watched a snail moving along the ground (he was very slow).
During the week I'm going to try some yoga at Cosmic Kids Yoga and I will go on some mindful walks. I won't listen to my music or chat while I'm walking, I'll just focus on the sounds and sights around me. I know that your teachers have asked you to decorate some stones and place them around your local community to brighten people's spirits. I will definitely keep an eye out for them when I go for my walk. Why don't you send me some pictures of your decorated stones? If you're out for a walk and spot one you could send me a picture too. Are you going to bring your teddy on a mindful walk?
I can't wait to hear how you're getting on this week. Remember to TAKE NOTICE of the world around you.
Chat soon,
Ted

Hi again Girls and Boys. How are you getting on connecting with others this week? Look who I chatted to the other day! Some of the staff joined me in a zoom meeting so we could stay connected at a distance. It was so wonderful catching up with them. I loved seeing all of their faces! It made me very happy.
Have you been able to send some letters, chat to friends or family at a distance or online over some safe apps?!
I would recommend it to all to you. I feel so much better after seeing and talking to some people I haven't been in contact with recently. It really put a smile on my face! If you have been able to get connected this week, keep sending in some photographs to your teachers as I would love to see how you are getting on. What amazing sunshine we are having. I hope everyone has a great week! Keep smiling!
Take care and stay safe,
Ted

Hello again Girls and Boys,
I hope that you all had a great weekend, I certainly did. Being active all last week made me feel really healthy and happy so I had to keep it up. I have been walking and cycling every day. I was glad I went for my walk on Saturday because I was lucky enough to bump into Ms Travers. Seeing a familiar face gave me butterflies in my tummy. She was really excited to see me too, she had a big smile on her face. It was so lovely to have a chat and connect with one of the teachers from school. We kept a safe distance from each other and chatting for ages. I realised that connecting with a friend made me feel really good so I've made a decision. This week I am going to make an effort to connect with people.
Why don't you join me? I'm going to make some phone calls, send a few postcards and I might even have a video chat with some friends. Maybe you could write a letter or a postcard to a grandparent, aunt or uncle. You might be able to have a socially distanced visit with some family or friends. Perhaps you could have a video chat with a friend. Let me know how your week is going and I'll keep you updated too. If you feel as good connecting with others as I did when I met Ms Travers then it's going to be a great weekend.
Have a great week CONNECTING with others. I'm really looking forward to seeing your photos and hearing all about your week.

Hello again Boys and Girls,
Wow! I was so excited when your teachers sent me photos and videos of you getting active. I bet you feel great when you get some exercise every day. I can even see the smiles on your faces. I know I always feel great after I've been for a run around the hall. Keep it up and keep getting active. Let me know how you're getting on. I think I might go for a scoot or a cycle some day later this week. I'll make sure to get a photo and I'll post it here.
A big thank you to Senan, Sam, Ruby, Bobby, Emily, Keelin and Callum for sending in some great pictures. Thanks to Mason and the other teddies for getting involved too.
Remember, BE ACTIVE!

A Message From Ted
Hello Girls and Boys, I hope that you are keeping well. I am still here in the school keeping an eye on things. It's very strange to be here without all of you. When I first realised that the school was empty I did some really fun things, like sneaking into the Staff Room and I even peeped into Ms McNulty's Office! It was so much fun. But after a few days I started to feel lonely and a bit sad. I missed all of my friends and I didn't know what to do. It's OK to be sad sometimes but I didn't want to be sad all of the time. Luckily, when I was walking past Ms McNulty's Office one day I saw a poster on the wall and it gave me some ideas on how I could help myself to feel a bit better. So this week I decided that I am going to get active. I've already been having great fun in the school hall. I praticed jumping and I can even reach the basketball hoop. I feel great after getting some exercise. Now that I can travel a bit further I might go for a cycle down to the sea. I hope that you are keeping active at home. Are you going for walks, cycles and scoots? Are you practicing your football outside and dancing around the house? How many times can you throw a football ball or tennis ball and catch it? Can you jog on the spot for 3, 4 or 5 minutes? Can you try to do 100 jumping jacks in one day? This week, why don't you try to get really active just like me. Maybe you could send me some pictures of you exercising with your teddies. You know how I love when the teddies visit for the Teddy Bears Picnic. I can't wait to see your pictures and hear about how you're getting on. I have lots of free time so I'll put your pictures up here on my blog page. Remember to BE ACTIVE and let me know how you're getting on. Love Ted. |
