Well done to Daniel, Layla, Cali and Ariya who attended the award ceremony for the Sightsavers competition in Google HQ yesterday. They really enjoyed the award ceremony and Rueben the Entertainer! They all received a plaque and their pictures were all framed. Big congratulations!

On Monday we went to Let's Go in DCU. We had so much fun taking part in obstacle courses, archery, bouncy castles and games.
Well done to the boys and girls who attended the Croke Park Stadium Tour and GAA Museum today. It was such a fun day out and we learned lots from our tour guide Aidan! Thank you to Ms. Fitzpatrick, who organised the trip, and to Ms. Foynes and Ms. Pierce who came along with us. Hopefully some of the boys and girls will be back visiting Croke Park again, either as spectators or players themselves!!!
Wishing all the children in Room 5 a fun-filled Easter break! Have a look at the creative masterpieces we made in school today. A special thanks to the Parents' Association for organising the Easter Egg Hunt yesterday!
We really enjoyed the Musician Visit today in the halla. We listened carefully to the talented musicians (including our very own Ms. McDermott and Ms. Walsh!) and danced along to the clap dance. We were all inspired to give the brush dance a go when we got back to the classroom. Here we are with our very own 'Seachtain na Gaeilge' class mascot. Maith sibh!!
Room 5 made some brilliant pieces of artwork on Friday under the theme 'We are all Global Citizens'. We firstly had a look at the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We then made posters, using paint and oil pastels, to illustrate the importance of the SDGs for ensuring a cleaner, brighter future for all of earth's citizens. Well done to all the boys and girls in room 5 on their wonderful China projects! I am blown away by the research, creativity and hard work that went into each project. Have a look at some of the amazing things we have on show outside our classroom! The boys and girls in second class got to visit the hall today for a workshop from S.T.E.A.M. Academy. S.T.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths. We learned all about robots and had a lot of fun playing interactive games. We even got to meet a robot dog who danced for us!!
We have our very own published authors in the school - the boys and girls of Room 5!! The pupils have been working on story writing the past few weeks. We learned about the writing process: planning, drafting, editing and publishing. Yesterday Ms. McCarthy's Junior Infants visited Room 5 and got to hear the second class students read their stories aloud. We designed a front cover and a blurb and tied our booklets together with red ribbon just in time to bring home for Christmas. Maith sibh!!
This week was Maths week and we got up to some fun activities! We love that parents come in and help us for Maths for fun every Tuesday this month - it's great fun getting to play Maths games. We also learned about Data and created our own graphs using information gathered from our classmates. On Friday we had our Maths dress-up day and took part in a Maths walk in pairs. Well done everyone!! |
