This month we have been learning about different types of bridges and how they are constructed. We also learned about famous bridges in Ireland and especially Dublin. I think that our favourite bridge is the new Samuel Beckett bridge. We enjoyed learning that it swings open at a 90 degree angle instead of lifting up like we had thought. Lots of the boys and girls tried making bridges of their own. They did a super job!
We had a great day celebrating Lá Glás this week. On Wednesday we went to the hall to listen to musicans and they played along while we performed our 'clap dance'. We did a super job and were all out of breath! On Friday, we went to the hall again and we each performed our song or poem as gaeilge. We even managed to do our run in all of our green gear!We have had a very busy few days. On Monday we did our Jingle Bell Jog and our Carol service in the church. We performed our Christmas songs in the hall for the parents on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday we had a visit from the man of the Moment, Santa Claus! The Parents Association did a fantastic job of decorating his grotto and he had a selection box for each child. The school celebrated Halloween on the 26th of October. The children all dressed up and visited the Parents Association for Trick or Treating in the hall. We went on our Witches Walk. Vert well done to all of the children for their super fundraising. The children have been really enjoying Maths Week. Some of the mums have been coming in for Maths for Fun and we are very grateful to them for giving up their time. As well as playing fun games, we also went on a maths trail through the school today where we had to complete lots of different tasks. For homework today, we had to use our Maths Eyes to spot mathematical things around our homes. Take a look at all we have been getting up to! Cody, Bobbi and Samwell won badges this week for putting in a great effort with their Gaeilge at school. Maith sibh! What a day we had for Well Being Day - one of the best. In the morning we played with the instruments, then palayed with skipping ropes. After our small break we practised some yoga. Some animals visited our school with the help of Farmer Tom - this was the highlight of the day. Afterwards we played with chalk on the yard. After big lunch, we cooled down with some delicious ice lollies. We went on our school trip to Dublin Zoo. We were so excited for this trip and couldn't wait to see all the animals. Brandon was our tour guide who brought us down to the African Savannah. He learned lots about the rhino, giraffe and and zebra. We then made our way back through the zoo and saw so many animals - monkeys, gorilla's, orangutan, penguins, flamingos, hippo, sea lions, penguins. We had the best day and were delighted to see our grown ups to tell them about our exciting day. |
We are now in first class in Room 12. In our class, there are 11 girls and 11 boys.
