Recently, we listened to the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We enjoyed learning about all that happened to Goldilocks. We even made some porridge just like the Three Bears. We also enjoyed this song all about Goldilocks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaulRHrJGeU

The boys and girls in Room 1 enjoyed when some of the parents volunteered to come into our class to play Maths games and activities. The games covered topics which we have learned in school since starting - counting, number recognition, colours, shapes, etc. If no document appears on your screen, click the link below.
On Thursday, we had so much fun for the Halloween Witches Walk Day. In the morning, we were very brave and visited the haunted house. We played games and received goodie bags from our fantastic Parents Association. After small break we went on our Witches Walk around the local area. We waved at the cars and lots of cars beeped their horns at us. The Guards must have heard about the witches and monsters walking the footpaths of Ayrfield as when we got back two guards were outside school to chat to us. They reminded us how to look after ourselves over Halloween. After big break, we went down to the hall to sing our song, The Witch to all the boys and girls in our school. We also listened to all the other children sing their wonderful songs. We also had a parade to show off our wonderful costumes. A big thank you to our wonderful Parents Association for all their creative talents in the haunted room and for the yummy goodie bags. Also, a big thanks to all the Parents and Guardians of Room 1 for all their efforts in the childrens costumes. I hope everyone enjoys the well deserved break over the mid term. Well done to all the boys and girls in Room 1 for participating in St. Paul's Maths Week. We played number, shape, colour activities every day, we played games on the interactive whiteboard, we practised counting and many other activities. We also, went on Maths Trail around the school. On Friday we dressed up. A big thanks to the parents and guardians for helping the children create fantastic costumes. It was a memorable day for all the children in our school when the Sam Maguire Cup came for a visit. It was impressive for us all to see and had great fun dressing in our jerseys on the day. We are enjoying learning to read in Room 1. Danny, Zeb and his friends are having lots of fun with the washing machine box. When reading we point to each word and use a loud clear voice.
Remember it is important to encourage your child to read as much as possible but also for you to read with them. We began our Halloween fun by tasting Barmbrack. Some of us were a bit unsure to begin with but well done to everyone as they are tried it. Some of the boys and girls have even brought it to school for their lunch since. We are learning all about the story of the Three Little Pigs. We've enjoyed listening to and recalling all what happened to the little pigs. We also heard the story in Irish, Na Tri Mhuc Beaga. Have a listen to one of our favourite songs at the moment.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR4L_t6IAfc Today we went on an autumn walk around school. We are learning about the signs of autumn. We saw the autumn colours on the leaves, some autumn leaves falling and the weather was colder. Unfortunately, there was no sign of a squirrel or hedgehog. |
