We were involved in a Teacher Artist Partnership with Margret Callan Bergin from October to February of this year. This partnership came about as a result of a course I took part in at Drumcondra Education Centre over the summer. The partnership has been a resounding success. Every Tuesday Margaret drew on the children’s creativity and imagination. The partnership has provided an opportunity for the children to develop their literacy, oral language, visual arts, drama and interpersonal skills while gaining greater confidence and an ability to express themselves. The children created a magical story that explores the themes of friendship and inclusion.
We visited Rua Red Arts Centre in Tallaght on Thursday 13th December to record our story. It really was a great opportunity for the children. The resulting recording is fabulous and the children were all very proud to hear themselves telling the story.
On Wednesday 13th February we visited Drumcondra Education Centre to present our wonderful work. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Margaret for her hard work and dedication throughout the entire programme. She made great efforts to get to know each child and her interactions with them were both caring and encouraging. We will all miss her.
