We had great fun today celebrating Halloween. We may have scared a few of the neighbours when we went on our Witch Walk around Ayrfield. A big thank you to everyone for your sponsorship. A highlight of the day was the haunted house where we played ghoulish games and got tasty treats. Thank you to all the parents who put a huge amount of work into preparing the house and hosting the children. We ended the day with songs, poems and a fancy-dress parade in the school hall. A great day was had by all. We wish everyone in the St. Paul's community a safe and spooky Halloween break.
On Friday afternoon all the classes gathered in the hall to watch the wonderful production of 'The Little Princess'. The acting, singing and set design were all fabulous. Through the play we learned about friendship and the importance of kindness to all. A huge thank you to M & M Productions for the entertaining afternoon. We are very excited about our dress-up day tomorrow. We have great plans. Some of us are wearing jerseys with numbers on them; others are using face paint to draw shapes and colour; some of us are using stickers to decorate old clothes. Lots of great ideas. We look forward to walking around the school to see the work that our friends in other classes have been doing during Maths Week. We're in the middle of Maths Week and we're having a blast. There's lots of problem solving and mathematical thinking going on around the school. We hope you're having fun with the Maths homework each night. Check out the app IXL Maths. (android and iOS) for great Maths challenges. There was lots of Maths fun and learning going on around the school today. Check out this link for some Stardoku challenges. It's like regular Sudoku but with colours instead of numbers. Enjoy! http://www.cookie.com/kids/games/stardoku.html Maths Week Ireland runs from the 12th to 20th of October. To celebrate the occasion children can wear a GAA jersey or blue clothes. From Monday 7th to Friday 11th October we are celebrating Wellness Week. During the week the children will learn about the importance of wellness. We will explore the 5 ways to wellness as seen in the image above. Each child has a Wellness Week Journal and we encourage you to share in some of the activities as outlined each day. Enjoy the week, connect, explore and be active! On Tuesday 8th October, St. Paul's Student Council met for the first time. The council is made up of two representatives from each class. They will bring ideas from their class to each council meeting. These ideas will be shared with the adults in the school community. They will also keep their classmates updated on events that are planned within the school. The first meeting was a resounding success and we look forward to our next meeting. Please keep an eye on the school website for updates. |
